Document repository

EGDI Document Repository

It allows you to find documents (PDFs, images, and CSV files) by searching their metadata and their content (within the documents themselves). It has advanced search enabled and specific filters for document attributes.

Find geological documents faster with metadata + full-text search

The EGDI Document Repository helps you discover and access geological documents—such as PDFs, images and CSV files—by searching both their metadata and their content (full text). Advanced search and document attribute filters make it easier to narrow results and quickly reach the most relevant reports, studies and resources for your topic.

What you can do with the Document Repository

Use the repository to:

  • Search by metadata (title, author/organisation, publication year, keywords and other descriptive fields).
  • Search within document content to find specific terms in PDFs and other supported file formats.
  • Apply advanced filters to refine results using document attributes (e.g., document type, topic or other available filters in the interface).
  • Access documents for reference, research, reporting and education workflows.

Who is this tool for?

  • Researchers & analysts looking for authoritative documentation that supports interpretation, modelling and publication.
  • Policy & planning teams who need traceable sources and reports to support evidence-based decisions.
  • GIS and technical users who want supporting documentation alongside datasets and services.
  • Educators and students exploring European geoscience topics through reliable sources.

Recommended workflow (3 steps)

  1. Start with a query using your topic keywords (e.g., Critical Raw Materials, aquifer, coastal flooding, CO₂ storage) and then refine results using the repository’s advanced filters.
  2. Open and review the most relevant documents and check metadata to confirm context, scope and publication details.
  3. Continue your data journey using EGDI tools: search datasets in EGDI Data Search, validate structured metadata in the Geological Metadata Catalogue, and explore layers in the Geological Map Viewer of Europe.
